re:present L.A. Exhibition

May 3 – July 27, 2012 at the Vincent Price Art Museum

Kathi Flood

This dress form depicts the route from my quiet, secluded Sherman Oaks canyon home to my daughter’s former apartment in West Los Angeles (My house is on the heart, hers around the back). I aimed to show that Los Angeles has many worlds, and that behavioral expectations and communal relationships vary widely within each community. There is a ‘hood to fit every identity, and it’s possible to act out different parts of ourselves as we navigate through this vast city.
